Okay, let me start by saying that this is merely a personal suggestion, and is in no way guaranteed or endorsed by GEIG. In other words, if this doesn’t work, don’t blame me.
As another disclaimer, it is important that AEJMC fill the block of rooms they booked through the Sheraton in order to grant us meeting space, etc. If you are on an unlimited expense account from your school, or are loaded with money in some other way, please book through the AEJMC block. If you are a broke grad student, however, read on.
I booked my room for the convention through hotwire.com. Once you search for the dates you want to stay, narrow your search (by unclicking boxes on the left hand side of the page) to only “Back Bay – Copley Square”.
If you can get a 3.5-star hotel for your dates in the Back Bay-Copley Square neighborhood, it will *most likely* be the Sheraton (conference hotel) or the Hilton (right across the street). With Hotwire, you don’t know the name of the hotel until after you complete the booking, so on some level this is a little bit of a gamble. But based on some Internet research and my own experience, I feel comfortable telling you that you will probably get one of these two hotels, and most likely the Sheraton. The current rate for Tuesday-Saturday is $89/night plus tax.
One downside of Hotwire is that you do have to pre-pay, so be prepared for that. Depending on how you get reimbursed for conference travel (if you get reimbursed), you will probably have to wait until August to get reimbursed.
Good luck! –Jessalynn
